What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for a motivated and effective leader to:

  • Support the Head of Maths to deliver an ambitious, coherent and sequenced Maths curriculum across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Lead on the quality of teaching in specific year groups or topic areas; model high-quality lessons and deliver targeted coaching to colleagues.
  • Lead on assessment classroom practice within the department: check-in strategies, formative feedback and approaches to identify and address misconceptions at the point of learning.
  • Analyse departmental data for assigned cohorts and groups, using it to set short-term targets and evaluate the impact of interventions (including disadvantaged and SEND students).
  • Contribute to CPD and induction for new and early-career staff; provide coaching and lesson support.
  • Support departmental routines, behaviour expectations and the implementation of the school's marking and feedback policy.
  • Represent the department at school events where required (open evenings, parents' evenings, transition activities).
