About the Role
As a 6th Form Learning Mentor, your primary focus will be to maximise student attainment and progress through targeted academic intervention and coaching. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Designing and implementing personalised learning programmes to address student gaps that teach essential study skills, revision techniques and time management.
- Proactively identifying students who need extra support by interpreting attendance and grade data.
- Supervising the Post-16 study room to maintain a quiet, professional, and productive learning atmosphere.
- Providing initial wellbeing support, managing referrals to mental health services, and addressing barriers to attendance.
- Collaborating on the delivery of the Core Programme, including hosting external speakers and assisting with events like Open Evenings and Inductions.
About You
We are looking for a resilient, initiative-driven individual who can build strong rapport with students while maintaining professional boundaries. To be successful, you will need:
- A good general standard of education, including at least grade 4 in English and Maths.
- A background in working with young people and a proven track record in administrative tasks and data handling.
- Strong IT skills and excellent communication abilities to engage effectively with students, staff, and external partners.
- A deep understanding of study skills and revision strategies to help students become independent learners.
- The ability to work collaboratively within a team and the emotional resilience to handle sensitive pastoral or mental health issues.
