Academic Mentor job summary
We wish to appoint an Academic mentor to join our Sixth Form Pastoral Team on a fixed term contract until 31 August 2022 initially. The post holder will work closely with the Head of Sixth Form in monitoring student progress, liaising with teaching and pastoral staff to help individuals overcome barriers to learning and progress.
You will support the UCAS application process, supporting students with the production of personal statements and references. You will supervise independent study periods - encouraging retention, academic outcomes, and ambitious destinations for our students.
The successful candidate will have experience of working with in the secondary school sector in a multi-cultural and diverse environment. You will have knowledge and experience of the UCAS process and be proficient in the use of Word and Excel. The ability to communicate clearly and confidently are essential. You will be a self-motivated team player, able to use your own initiative and have a commitment to the school’s ethos, aims and its whole community.
Hours: 35 hours a week, 39 weeks a year (term time only plus 5 INSET days)
