We are seeking to appoint a dedicated, enthusiastic and knowledgeable part time Academic Tutor to join our supportive and ambitious team at CHS South.As an Academic Tutor for Literacy, you will play a vital role in improving outcomes for students by delivering targeted programmes of learning to individuals and small groups. You will support students in overcoming barriers to learning, helping them develop the skills, confidence and independence they need to succeed.This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about education and committed to raising standards through personalised academic support and high expectations.As Academic Tutor will complement the professional work of teachers by taking responsibility for planning, preparing and delivering agreed learning activities to identified groups of students.

You will:

  • Deliver structured programmes of work in Literacy
  • Support students who require additional help to overcome barriers to learning
  • Assess, monitor and record student progress using school systems
  • Provide high-quality feedback to students, teachers and parents

This is a permanent part time post working 7-21 hours per week/1-3 days, term time only plus 5 INSET days. The salary range is between £4,999 - £14,999 pro rata depending on the working hours and the full time equivalent is £29,064, Grade 5.Key Responsibilities

  • Work with small groups of students to address key areas of learning

  • Plan, adapt and deliver learning activities aligned with departmental strategies
  • Set high expectations and establish positive, productive relationships with students

  • Monitor, assess and accurately record student achievement and progress
  • Mark work and administer routine assessments and examinations
  • Provide clear, objective feedback and reports to teachers and Curriculum Leaders
  • Liaise with parents/carers and contribute to meetings regarding student progress
  • Support behaviour management strategies and promote positive conduct
  • Assist with educational visits and out-of-school learning activities
  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding, health and safety

The Successful Candidate Will Have:

  • A-Level qualification in English or equivalent or higher.
  • Experience working with children or young people (education or voluntary sector desirable)

CHS South

CHS South is a 11-16 eight-form entry, mixed, comprehensive school opened in conjunction with Chorlton High School in 2018. Our school provides a full capacity of 1200 in our brand-new building which opened in September 2021.
