What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for a dedicated and reliable Academy Facilities Manager to join the team at our new satellite site to ensure our school premises are well-maintained, safe, and fully operational. As Site Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining and managing the school's facilities to ensure they are safe, welcoming, and fit for purpose. This is an essential role where you'll be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the site, managing preventive preplanned and reactive maintenance tasks, ensuring health and safety compliance, and supporting the smooth running of school activities and events. Your work will directly contribute to creating a positive learning environment for both students and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the maintenance and upkeep of the school’s buildings and grounds ensuring the site is fully compliant.
  • Ensure health, safety, and environmental standards are met through regular inspections and risk assessments.
  • Coordinate with contractors for repairs and maintenance.
  • Maintain site security and manage access to the buildings.
  • Assist with the setup and support of school events and activities.
  • Respond to emergency repairs as needed.

Key Requirements:

  • Previous experience in site management or facilities management, ideally in a school or educational setting
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities, with experience supervising a team
  • Knowledge of health, safety, building maintenance, and environmental regulations
  • Ability to work independently and manage your time efficiently

Bedelsford School is an outstanding special school which aims to provide innovative education and a challenging environment for pupils aged 2 to 19. The school specialises in educating pupils with a wide range of Physical Disabilities including those with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties, Moderate Learning Difficulties and Complex Health needs. However, we are a changing population and many of our pupils now have CLDD (complex learning difficulties and disabilities).

The school converted to Academy status in April 2016 and was last inspected by Ofsted in December 2018 . Inspectors observed: Bedelsford School has high expectations of all and aims to provide consistent and sustained improvement, working collegiately with key partners.

We keenly take account of the development of neuroscientific knowledge and research to better enable us to develop the skills of our staff team, understand the unique ways our pupils learn and implement the teaching strategies which will ensure pupils make the maximum progress they can.
