What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for a dedicated Academy Facilities Manager at our Brantridge School to ensure our premises are well-maintained, compliant, safe, and fully operational. As Academy Facilities Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining and managing the school's facilities to ensure they are welcoming and fit for purpose. This is an essential role, managing a team of 5 where you'll be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the site, maintenance tasks, ensuring health and safety and compliance, cleaning and supporting the smooth running of school activities and events. Your work will directly contribute to creating a positive learning environment for both students and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the onsite facilities team consisting of 5 direct line reports, including 3 domestic staff.
  • Manage the preventative planned maintenance, reactive maintenance and upkeep of the school’s buildings and grounds.
  • Ensure compliance, health, safety, and environmental standards are met through regular inspections and risk assessments.
  • Prepare specification, plans for PPMs, refurbishments and improvement projects and obtain quotes.
  • Coordinate with contractors for repairs and maintenance.
  • Maintain site security and manage access to the buildings.
  • Assist with the setup and support of school events and activities.
  • Respond to emergency repairs as needed.
  • Assist in carrying out regular emergency evacuation practices and keep appropriate records.

Key Requirements:

  • Previous experience in site management or facilities management, ideally in a school or educational setting.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities, with experience supervising a team
  • Knowledge of health, safety, building maintenance, and environmental regulations
  • Ability to work independently and manage your time efficiently
