At The Academy, Selsey we have a clear focus on raising standards of academic performance for 11 to 16 year olds. Since opening in September 2011 we have made good progress towards our ultimate goal of becoming an outstanding school. As a part of The Kemnal Academies Trust (TKAT) we can offer a great role and further opportunities for professional development and progression across the trust.
The main duty of the Champion is to work with identified students to support their learning and emotional needs. This involves working in a variety of ways to build relationships and overcome barriers to learning and engagement such as finances, relationships and school based issues. When necessary you will also be required to supervise whole classes to enable students to continue learning in the absence of their teacher.
This post requires a flexible person with a good standard of literacy and numeracy, who relates well to others and is keen to make a difference to the prospects of the young people on the Selsey peninsula. The preferred candidate will be educated to Graduate level although other relevant qualifications will be considered.
We reserve the right to close the vacancy early should we receive a significant number of applications. If you have not had any communication within 10 days of the closing date please take this as confirmation that on this occasion your application has not been successful.

As one of six secondary schools within the ‘Coast’ region within The Kemnal Academies Trust (TKAT), we take pride in our geographic location and in our role as a ‘community’ secondary school. We embrace all that the coastline has to offer to provide our young people with a unique approach to education that makes full use of the assets on our doorstep. We offer a positive and challenging curriculum within a stimulating and nurturing education environment, recognised by Ofsted in our recent inspection where they stated “leaders and governors have created a welcoming and positive culture that permeates all aspects of the school’s life. As a result, pupils thrive and standards are rising.”
