Waseley Hills High School is seeking to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic Achievement Assistant who can support a studious Year 10 student with a visual impairment and EHCP. High level of verbal communication and reading skills for all subject areas (Key Stage 4) will be needed for practical assistance. Daily expectations can include accompanying to lessons in busy corridors, organising activities, adapting materials, annotating notes off the board into exercise books, supervising movement / rest breaks, supporting resource development, happy to be in a PE and Dance environment, ensuring accurate note-taking with good handwriting (the ability to scribe on occasions) whilst also fostering independence, social inclusion and the ability to promote their overall well-being within the school environment. An interest in Gymnastics would be a bonus.
The successful candidate will receive appropriate training to develop the necessary specialist skills and knowledge for supporting the student from the WCC Senior Qualified Teacher of Children with a Vision Impairment (QTVI), so that the personalised support is tailored to the student's communication needs, learning style, and any additional support requirements
