Edgar Wood Academy is looking for a highly organised, confident and professional Admin Assistant to join our busy front-of-house and school office team.
As the first face and voice of the academy, you will create a warm, positive and professional welcome for all students, staff, parents and visitors. This role is essential in ensuring smooth daily operations and exceptional service across the school.

About the Role
In this key front‑line role, you will:
- Support our reception service, ensuring every visitor receives a warm, professional welcome
- Confidently respond to radio communications and support the smooth running of day‑to‑day school operations
- Handle enquiries from parents, staff and students with clarity, professionalism and excellent customer service
- Support with challenging or sensitive conversations in a calm, diplomatic and solutions‑focused manner
- Provide high‑quality administrative support including correspondence, record keeping and office systems
- Manage staff absence calls from 7am and coordinate daily cover arrangements, using knowledge of teacher timetables and curriculum needs
- Maintain accurate data and use systems such as Arbor and other MIS platforms
- Assist with school events, meetings and diary management
- Support pupil welfare, first aid, administering administration and safeguarding procedures
- Work closely with the Systems & Operations Manager to ensure efficient, well‑organised office operations
- Proactively monitor the admin inbox and respond to a wide range of queries, ensuring timely communication and liaising with other departments where required.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking someone who:
- Holds GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above)
- Has strong administrative experience, ideally in a school or fast‑paced office environment
- Demonstrates excellent organisation, accuracy and attention to detail
- Communicates confidently and professionally with a wide range of stakeholders
- Uses discretion and professionalism when handling confidential or sensitive information
- Remains calm under pressure and can balance competing priorities effectively
- Is proactive, adaptable and solutions‑focused
- Shares our commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people
