About us and the role

We are seeking to appoint a highly organised Administrative Assistant/Receptionist, based at Krishna Avanti Primary School, Leicester, to join our friendly and dedicated team.

This is a varied and important role at the heart of the school, acting as the first point of contact for pupils, parents and visitors and ensuring a warm, professional and welcoming experience at all times. You will combine front-of-house reception duties with a range of administrative and operational tasks that support the effective day-to-day running of the school, including basic reprographics such as photocopying and document preparation, alongside wider administrative support for staff and school activities.

You will also play a key role in supporting school processes, events and communication, helping to maintain efficient systems and contribute to the wider organisation of the school.

What will you do?

  • Provide a professional and welcoming reception service for pupils, parents, visitors and staff, ensuring effective communication in person and by telephone.
  • Deliver comprehensive administrative support, including managing records, producing reports, handling correspondence, and completing complex data and forms for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support the organisation of school events, trips, training sessions and hospitality, ensuring smooth day-to-day operational delivery.
  • Maintain and develop administrative systems, including ICT platforms, resource management, audits, and budget monitoring where required.
  • Contribute to safeguarding, health and safety, and the wider ethos of the school, ensuring policies are followed and a safe, inclusive environment is maintained.

What are we looking for?

  • Experience of developing and maintaining administrative systems and procedures.
  • High level of literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Evidence of the ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
  • Effective use of ICT packages and other specialist equipment/resources.
  • Commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of children and young people

Krishna Avanti Primary School is a Hindu-faith Free School for boys and girls that opened in September 2011. We are at full capacity with 420 pupils.

The school is set in 5 acres of land, on Spencefield Lane in Leicester, in Evington Hall. The Grade 2 listed building was built for the High Sheriff of Leicester and was also once a Catholic Convent. The main house has great character with beautiful features including an extraordinary library area. It is set in tranquil grounds making this a wonderful site for an excellent learning environment for all children of any faith and background and providing a spacious learning environment both indoors and outdoors.
