Contract: 20 hours per week, 38.4 weeks per year (term time plus 4 inset days), Fixed-Term until July 2026
Are you an organised, approachable, and proactive individual who thrives in a busy school office environment? Sturminster Newton High School is seeking a dedicated Administrative Assistant to join our friendly and supportive team. The successful candidate will be required to work a minimum of 3 days.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out a range of general administrative tasks to support the school’s day-to-day operations
- Maintain and update manual and electronic filing systems in line with GDPR requirements
- Manage telephone calls, emails, and face-to-face enquiries from staff, parents, and visitors
- Support with updating spreadsheets, distributing information, and keeping website pages current
- Liaise with staff, parents, contractors, and agencies in a professional manner
- Administer first aid (training provided)
- Uphold high standards of safeguarding and confidentiality at all times
We’re Looking For Someone Who:
- Has strong administrative and IT skills, including experience with Microsoft Office
- Is confident communicating with staff, pupils, parents, and external visitors
- Can work independently and manage priorities under pressure
- Is friendly, flexible, and a team player
- Demonstrates a professional attitude and attention to detail

SAST will conduct online searches of shortlisted candidates. Sturminster Newton High School is a mixed 11-18 comprehensive school with a good reputation as a small, community focussed school serving a wide rural catchment area.
