Advanced Teaching Assistant job summary

Part-time, 13.5 hours per week, Monday and Tuesday, 8.45am-3.30pm.

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and caring Advanced Teaching Assistant to join our team at Coppice Valley Primary School.

This is an important role supporting children to develop the skills, confidence and independence they need to achieve their full potential. Working closely with teachers and other colleagues, you will provide high-quality support to help pupils access learning, engage fully in the curriculum and make progress.

As an Advanced Teaching Assistant, you will take greater responsibility for delivering, adapting and reviewing learning activities, targeted interventions and personalised programmes. You will use your experience and professional judgement to respond to pupils’ individual needs, help remove barriers to learning and support their academic, social and emotional development.

The post also includes Midday Supervisory Assistant duties where you will help to ensure pupils are safe and supported during lunchtime, promote positive behaviour and social interaction, and contribute to an enjoyable and inclusive lunchtime environment.

About you

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or is willing to work towards one
  • Has experience of working with or caring for children of a relevant age
  • Can adapt approaches and resources to help pupils overcome barriers to learning
  • Builds positive and respectful relationships with pupils, colleagues and families
  • Has high expectations for pupils and a strong commitment to inclusion

Knowledge of the primary curriculum and experience of supporting pupils with additional needs would be advantageous.
