Plumpton College is seeking an enthusiastic, skilled and student-focused Lecturer in Adventure Education & Sport to join our team.

This is an exciting opportunity to inspire and support students studying adventure education at levels 2 to 3, delivering high-quality teaching, learning and assessment that enables them to achieve their potential and progress successfully into further study or employment.

Please note that interviews for this role will take place in the week commencing 17th August. The earliest start date for this role is Monday 24th August, but there is flexibility if the successful candidate's notice period requires it.

About the Role

As Lecturer in Adventure Education & Sport, you will work closely with the Curriculum Manager and Programme Manager to deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment across levels 2 to 3.

You will play a key role in supporting student progress, acting as a personal tutor, contributing to quality improvement and helping to shape an engaging and ambitious learning environment. The role also includes supporting enrichment activities, trips, visits, residentials, recruitment events and wider curriculum development.

You will:

  • Plan, deliver and assess engaging lessons to a consistently good or outstanding standard.
  • Monitor student progress, provide constructive feedback and adapt teaching to meet individual needs.
  • Promote attendance, engagement and the development of English and maths skills within vocational learning.
  • Use college systems and technology effectively to support teaching, learning, assessment and tracking.
  • Act as a personal tutor, supporting students through induction, reviews, target-setting and progression.
  • Contribute to quality improvement, programme development and awarding organisation processes.
  • Support enrichment activities, trips, residentials, open events and employer engagement.
  • Promote equality, diversity, inclusion and safeguarding in all aspects of the role.

About You

We are looking for an enthusiastic and capable individual with strong subject knowledge, industry credibility and a genuine commitment to student success.

Essential:

  • A relevant degree, professional qualification or equivalent in Adventure Education.
  • A relevant teaching qualification, or willingness to work towards one.
  • Relevant National Governing Body instructor or leadership qualifications in areas such as climbing, paddlesports or trekking.
  • An in-date First Aid qualification relevant to the sector.
  • Level 2 or above in English and maths.
  • Sector experience and strong specialist knowledge in Adventure Education.
  • Evidence of, or potential to, teach to a consistently good standard.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and IT skills.
  • A collaborative, flexible and student-focused approach.
  • A good understanding of safeguarding, student welfare and positive behaviour management.
  • A clean D1 driving licence.
