What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic person to join our After School Club team.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • NVQ3 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent qualification or experience
  • Will look forward to forging positive relationships with pupils, parents and staff and enjoys working as part of a whole-school team.
  • Is well organised and motivated.
  • Has experience of supervising small groups.
  • Is keen to develop their skills through professional development.
  • Believes in giving every child the opportunity to fulfil their full potential.
  • Has good communication skills in order to meet the demands of the role which is a challenging and rewarding one.
  • Take the lead at after school club with planning activities, leading play with older children at the club, preparing/serving snack, ensuring safeguarding routines are followed consistently, ensure safe arrival/departure of children using the club and liaising with SLT/office staff about children being collected late.

Flexible working opportunities

This is a Monday to Friday post from 3.00 pm to 6.00 pm. These are term time hours only. We do not have a holiday club during school holidays.

Marlcliffe is a large and very popular primary school and serves an area including Hillsborough and Wadsley on the North West edge of the City of Sheffield. Our pupils come from a broad range of social and economic backgrounds. The standard admission number is currently 75 and there are 478 children on role.

The behaviour and attitude of our children is good. We have good attendance and children are confident, keen to come to school and enjoy learning. We offer our children a wide range of additional activities at lunchtimes and after school.

We have seventeen classes from Foundation Stage to Year 6 and the school has a wealth of additional learning spaces including a library area, DT room complete with food technology equipment, a drama studio, a large hall space with stage, lighting and sound system, an all weather pitch, secret garden area, art room, and a dedicated PPA working space.

The Governing Body support professional development and the school provide training opportunities for all staff. There is a strong sense of teamwork throughout the school and a shared commitment to improving outcomes for all learners.
