After School Club Support Worker job summary

Shavington Primary School is looking to appoint an After School Club Support Worker to join our caring, committed team and help create a welcoming, enjoyable end to each child’s school day.

Our Before and After School Club is a vibrant, friendly environment where children can relax, play, and take part in a wide range of activities. From creative crafts and construction to outdoor games and free play, we offer a space where children feel safe, supported, and happy — and where positive relationships really matter.

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • A warm and confident communicator who enjoys working with children
  • Positive, reliable, and proactive, able to create a calm but fun atmosphere
  • A team player who can also use their initiative
  • Ready to help children feel settled, engaged, and valued at the end of the day

Key responsibilities

  • Welcoming and supervising pupils during afternoon sessions
  • Setting up and leading activities that encourage play, creativity, and social interaction
  • Supporting routines such as snack time, tidy‑up time, and transitions
  • Ensuring a safe, positive environment in line with school policies
  • Building positive relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues

This is a rewarding role at the heart of our school community, helping children feel secure, cared for, relaxed and happy after a busy day of learning.

Shavington Primary School is part of The Learning Partnership Trust, formed in September 2023. The trust subscribes to the Education Staff Wellbeing Charter and places staff wellbeing at the forefront of its strategic people priorities. Our ongoing commitment in this area is reflected in our employee offer that includes:

  • Discounts in retail stores, entertainment, and supermarkets
  • Benefits schemes in affordable tech, cycle2work, gym memberships and a car scheme
  • Employee assistance programme providing specialist advice and guidance in a range of areas including menopause, financial management, and up to 8 counselling sessions per referral
  • Flexible working offered as a day 1 right of employment
  • Free parking
  • Access to high quality CPD and secondment opportunities

Hours: 10 hours a week (3.30pm to 5.30pm Monday to Friday)

Weeks: 38 (term time only)

Actual salary: £5634

Interviews are provisionally scheduled for the week commencing 6th July 2026.
