What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for members of staff to work in our after school wraparound provision. Ideally you will be experienced at working with children and enjoy helping them with their play and activities. You will be able to help with the preparation and safe serving of food. You will be fully committed to safeguarding and making sure we operate Acorn Club in a safe and fair way.

You would work every after-school session on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday with the children from 3:00pm until 6:00pm. Some casual sessions on other days and on mornings from 7:45am to 9am may also be available.

The post is temporary in the first instance, but we hope that this could become a permanent role in the future once booking numbers are clear and sustainable.

The application form and documents for this job are on our website. Please make sure you read all of the safeguarding documents on this page.

The standard Leeds City Council job description applies, but we are looking for someone who can work flexibly and respond to the needs of the children we look after. We are keen to recruit people as soon as possible, so please do not wait until the closing date to submit your application as we will be processing applications on receipt. You can find out more about our school from our website Shire Oak CE Primary School which includes information about the Acorn Club offer on the booking form.

It may be possible to arrange visits to school, but these are not necessary for submitting an application and would be arranged in conjunction with recruitment activities.

Word processed applications received by post or email: by Monday 2nd November 2026 at 8am, although early applications may be considered before that. Email applications should be sent to office@shireoak.leeds.sch.uk

Unfortunately, we may not be able to reply to applicants who have not been shortlisted.

A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check against the Children’s barred list will be carried out on preferred candidates. Read our recruitment of ex-offenders policy.
