JOB DETAILS
Role: After-School Club Playleader
Hours: Part time, 12.5 hours per week (term time only), Monday to Friday, 3.15pm - 5.45pm
Salary: Grade 7
Reporting to: Senior Leader
MAIN PURPOSE
Plan, lead, and deliver a range of engaging activities for children attending after-school club
Ensure the safety, wellbeing, and inclusion of all pupils in your care
Create a fun, welcoming, and nurturing environment for children of all backgrounds and abilities
Demonstrate strong organisational and leadership skills to manage daily club routines and activities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Organisation & Supervision
- Design and implement a varied programme of creative, sporting, and educational activities
- Carry out the day to day administration, record keeping and purchase of materials and equipment, working within an agreed budget and providing reports as required.
- Organise and supervise the activities to encourage pupils to play and make use of the equipment provided
- Offer educational instruction where needed to help pupils to share play equipment
- Supervise children, ensuring their safety and promoting positive behaviour at all times
- Encourage participation and inclusion, adapting activities to meet the needs of all children
- Liaise with parents/carers as necessary, providing feedback on children’s participation and wellbeing
- Ensure all club resources are used appropriately and stored safely
- Maintain accurate records in line with the school’s safeguarding and health & safety procedures
- Arrange the set up and tidy up of the club each day
Health and safety
- Ensure that the club is a safe environment for all, that equipment is well maintained, standards of hygiene are high, safety procedures are implemented and appropriate risk assessments, fire drills/evacuation procedures are carried out effectively
- Observe pupils and the environment and take action to minimise any identified health and safety risks
- Ensure correct procedures are followed for the administration of first aid and medication, and record details of incidents in line with the school’s reporting procedures
- Be aware of and support pupils with medical/dietary needs
- Ensure that food and drink is provided which promotes healthy eating and complies with the school’s healthy eating policy
Behaviour
- Report any incidents of serious misbehaviour to the relevant staff member, in line with the school’s behaviour policy
- Take necessary action to minimise disruption and harm to pupils, in line with the school’s behaviour policy
- Make sure children tidy up after themselves when using play resources/equipment
Safeguarding
- Ensure all pupils are accounted for during their time in after-school club
- Responsibility for the collection of children from other areas of the school at the start of the club and the handover to parents at the end.
- Look out for any unidentified visitors approaching the school and follow the school’s procedures for approaching/reporting individuals
- Be fully aware of the school’s safeguarding policy and undertake training where necessary

- Read and follow the relevant school policies
- Undertake training required to develop in the role
