Afterschool Club Play Leader job summary

Our experienced Head teacher and his supportive senior leadership team are looking for Afterschool Club Play Leader to join their support team. This role will be 7.5 hours per week Monday to Friday 15.15-16.45 and is term time only.

The main responsibilities for the role are to work under guidance from the Head Teacher to provide child care for pupils the After-School Club. In addition, the senior play leader has overall responsibility for the safety and welfare of the children and staff for the efficient day to day running of the club.

Key Responsibilities:

1. To organise and arrange the timetable of activities for the after-school club:

  • Include cooking/drama/music/arts and crafts and occasional guests.
  • Adaptable to different ages, to be non-discriminatory and to include cultural events and theme weeks.
  • To organise other staff to take turns in the purchasing of cooking ingredients and supplies for other activities.
  • To organise the meeting to finalise timetables and discuss any difficulties.

2. To offer positive suggestions for improving the clubs.

3. To participate and lead staff meetings informing the Head of School/Executive Head Teacher of any points you wish to bring up and include on the agenda.

4. On arrival at the club, conduct a quick check on the conditions of the areas to be used by the club for those activities. Make safe any hazards noticed and write a note for the Site Manager of the items requiring attention and informing the Head of School/Executive Head Teacher.
