As our school continues to grow, we are delighted to be recruiting for an Alternative Provision & Inclusion Support Worker.

We are a Complex Needs School for pupils with moderate, severe or profound learning difficulties between the ages of 3 to 19.  All pupils have different learning needs; they learn best when they are happy and excited about learning.

We are looking for an experienced Alternative Provision & Inclusion Support Worker to join our team and make a real difference to the lives of young people who may have struggled to engage with mainstream education.

The successful candidate will have previous experience working within Alternative Provision and a strong understanding of the challenges faced by young people who may have experienced barriers to education, behavioural difficulties, social and emotional needs, or disengagement from learning.

You will work closely with young people on a one-to-one and small-group basis, providing consistent support, encouragement and positive role modelling.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Building positive and trusting relationships with young people.
• Supporting young people's emotional, social and educational development.
• Helping young people develop confidence, independence and life skills.
• Working closely with colleagues, families and other professionals.
• Monitoring and recording progress.
• Being a DSL

You will have:

• Experience supporting young people with challenging behaviour and/or additional needs.
• A genuine commitment to helping young people succeed.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• A calm, patient and consistent approach.
• The ability to establish appropriate professional boundaries.
• Confidence managing challenging situations.
• A flexible and adaptable approach to supporting individual needs.
• The ability to work positively as part of a team.

The successful applicant will undergo an enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references, online checks, and all required safeguarding checks. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and are committed to equality, diversity, and inclusion. The successful candidate will support pupils who access alternative provision, bespoke educational packages and reduced timetables. Working alongside the safeguarding, attendance and pastoral teams, you will help ensure vulnerable pupils remain safe, engaged and able to access suitable educational opportunities. The role includes regular liaison with families, external professionals and alternative provision providers to support positive outcomes for pupils with complex needs.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and you will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS check or Enhanced DBS check with barred list. If you have information to declare it may be protected under the Exceptions Orders and you may not be required to declare it. You will be asked to make a criminal conviction declaration if you are shortlisted for the post.
