Vacancy: Apprentice Assistant Site Manager
Hours: 36 hours per week (7hrs 12 mins daily), Monday to Friday, 52 weeks a year (25 days holiday plus bank holidays). This includes one college day/week.
*Salary Applicable for candidates:
£14,998.63 Aged 16-18 or for an apprentice of any age within the first year of apprenticeship
£18,983.98 Aged 18 or over and have completed your first year of apprenticeship
£22,919.91 Aged 21 or over and have completed your first year of apprenticeship
* Based on hourly rates for tax year 24/25. These rates will increase from April 2026 but these rates have not yet been confirmed.

We are looking to appoint a pro-active, reliable Apprentice Assistant Site Manager to join our Trust as part of our Site Team. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in facilities management while working towards a nationally recognized qualification.
The successful candidate will be a team player who will take pride in ensuring that any sites they are based at are clean, tidy and that the health, safety and welfare of children, staff and visitors is a priority. You will regularly be required to travel across schools within our Trust, and will be based at more than one site as part of a weekly shift timetable.
Duties will include:
Work alongside experienced Site staff and external contractors to learn and participate in a wide range of general maintenance duties including painting, basic carpentry and plumbing.
Lock and/or unlock the schools and carry out security checks on the building.
Carry out and record statutory checks and help maintain Health and Safety records.
Maintenance of property and grounds to a high standard including liaising with contractors.
Monitor site stock and order supplies.
Carry out DIY above and beyond the scope of a competent DIY person, completing more specialist work as required.
Willingness to attend training courses including Health and Safety.
To be responsible for regular checking and testing of fire alarm and emergency lighting as well as heating and water systems.
Regularly checking and ensuring the condition and safety of tools.
To ensure that external areas, paths and drives remain free from litter and hazards and that drains and gullies are free flowing and clean as appropriate.
Setting up rooms for school events and activities.
Liaising with other members of the Site team on a regular basis to ensure suitable handover of tasks.
Be available for lettings outside of regular school hours and also emergency call outs if necessary. These will be paid at the lettings/overtime rate.
The role is dependent upon participation in a fully funded Property Maintenance Operative (Level 2) apprenticeship for 2 years that includes attending college one day/week for face-to-face training. Course entry requirements - Maths and English GCSEs at grades 9-4 upon enrolment. Candidates with Maths and English GCSEs at grades 3-1 can still enrol onto the apprenticeship but may need to work towards achieving Maths and English GCSE grades 9-4 before completing the apprenticeship.
