The candidate that is offered the position would then be put forward by the school to apply to the university for the apprenticeship course. The offer of the post is subject to a successful application.

Qualifications needed:

A degree

GCSE Maths at grade C / 4 or above

GCSE English at grade C / 4 or above

GCSE Science at grade C / 4 or above

To be eligible for the apprenticeship route the candidate will need to have been living in the UK for at least the past 3 years.

The successful candidate would be employed as an unqualified teacher 32.5 hours per week. The course itself is 12 months long, at the end of that time the QTS is awarded, then there is a further 3 months for EPA (end point assessment), this is when an external assessor comes to school to observe the trainee and sign off the apprenticeship. The trainee can start their ECT year after they are awarded QTS.

There is the option to add on a PGCE, this is £600 and cannot be funded by the school.

All appointments will be subject to satisfactory references, an enhanced DBS and proof of the Right to Work in the UK (this will be required at the time of interview).
