About the Trust

Ebor Academy Trust is a family of schools located across North and East Yorkshire, York and the Humber region. We think of ourselves as being one school across many sites, working collaboratively to deliver high-quality, rich and engaging education in our diverse communities. We aim to enable all our learners to flourish and to open doors for their very best futures.

We genuinely seek to live by our values of Excellence, Belonging, Opportunity and Respect; these underpin how we work and how we relate to each other. We have high ambitions for our learners and staff and aim to deliver this through a culture of continuous development, support, kindness and understanding. We are a friendly Trust that puts people first.

About the role

All Saints’ Church of England Infant and Junior Academies has an opportunity for an Apprentice Teaching Assistant to join our hardworking and supportive team.

At All Saints’ Church of England Federation, we ensure that our children develop a range of qualities, attitudes and skills that will prepare them effectively for the future, underpinned by our Core Christian Values of Thankfulness, Forgiveness, Courage and Community. Our overarching vision of ‘Building the Bridge to Success Together’ encapsulates our approach as we ensure that our children, their families and our staff are provided with the environment and stimulus to succeed and flourish. We are very proud of our position at the heart of the community, and despite being such a large federation, we pride ourselves on our family atmosphere and ability to cater for every individual.

We inspire our pupils to be RICHER (Resilient, Independent, Confident, Happy, Enthusiastic, Respectful) learners, providing them with the skills and passion for learning to succeed. Teamwork and encouragement form a large part of our ethos, and children are encouraged to celebrate their successes and also the successes of others.

We are looking for someone with a passion for working with young children, a desire to learn and to develop a career in this field.

As an Apprentice Teaching Assistant, you will be required to support the Class Teacher with the day-to-day running of the classroom. You may be asked to support a child on a one-to-one basis or small groups of children. Throughout the Apprenticeship, you are supported to increasingly develop your knowledge and understanding, skills and professional behaviours.

As an apprentice, you will be supported on an 18-month apprenticeship programme and learn both on and off the job in order to achieve a professional L3 Teaching Assistant Qualification.

For further information, please see https://www.eboracademytrust.co.uk/apprenticeships/

The job requirements

The successful candidate will have a passion for education and supporting children, and whilst experience of working with children is not essential, a basic understanding of childhood development is desirable.

You will be able to communicate well with children, school staff and parents/carers alike. You will also have the ability to work well within a team and remain calm in the face of challenging behaviour.

You will need to be committed to keeping all our children safe and being a positive role model.

Applicants should have at least four GCSEs at Grade 4 or above, including English and maths (or equivalent L2 qualifications) however, where applicants do not include English or Maths, support can be provided to achieve the qualification prior to completion of the Apprenticeship.

It is important to note that applications from those with an existing L3 qualification as a Teaching Assistant cannot be accepted.

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a growing Academy Trust which offers excellent, long-term career development and strives to provide an inclusive environment in which all children are encouraged to become responsible for themselves, their learning and their behaviour.

Our central aim is to enable all children and staff to develop as aspirational learners and leaders who strive to reach their goals and achieve their potential.

Working for Ebor Academy Trust

All new starters with the Trust receive a thorough induction programme, followed by a programme of training which is targeted to the role. However, it doesn’t stop there; all staff receive development on an ongoing basis, and we actively encourage career development through a range of continuous professional development and longer programmes of learning, including apprenticeships.

We offer generous terms and conditions of employment. All our staff have access to a comprehensive Wellbeing Programme to help you and your family stay healthy. This includes access to free private GP and nurse appointments, exercise advice and classes, plus a variety of specialist clinics as well as counselling services. We also offer significant discounts on many high street shops, online retailers and travel agents, not to mention free car parking at all our schools, an enviable pension scheme, sick pay and family-friendly policies.

The Trust is striving to be an inclusive and diverse organisation, where everyone feels able to be themselves and experiences a strong sense of belonging. The Trust wholeheartedly supports the principle of equality and diversity in employment and opposes all forms of unfair or unlawful discrimination on the grounds of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, or sex. We encourage and support the recruitment, retention and career development of people from as wide a range as possible of ethnic, cultural and social backgrounds and seek to develop a community of staff that accurately represents society as a whole. All applications for employment with the Trust will be considered against the criteria outlined in the person specification for the position advertised.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We follow safer recruitment practices, and appointments are subject to, amongst other things, an enhanced DBS check. Please see the Trust’s Recruitment Policy for further information.
