Malet Lambert School is looking for individuals who are committed to making a positive impact in the lives of young people to join our large team of dedicated Teaching Assistants.

Teaching Assistants at Malet Lambert School play a vital role in supporting teaching, learning as well as the care and wellbeing of young people within our school. In addition to classroom support, there will also be opportunities to engage with our wider emotional wellbeing and pastoral support provision for pupils. We are incredibly proud of the SEND provision at Malet Lambert, and we are looking for individuals who are committed to ensuring all pupils can thrive and achieve their full potential.

You will work under the instruction and guidance of teaching and senior staff whilst training towards completion of the Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship Standard.The role will mainly involve working within the classroom alongside teachers to support access to learning for SEND pupils and those with other barriers to learning, providing both general and targeted assistance in the management of pupils and the classroom environment.

The successful candidate will also support small group intervention programmes, including Guided Reading, numeracy support and other targeted interventions designed to help pupils make progress academically, socially and emotionally. There will also be opportunities to support pupils through emotional wellbeing interventions and enrichment activities such as Accessible Sports, Gardening Club and Life Skills Development sessions, helping pupils to build confidence, resilience, independence and positive engagement with school life.

The working hours are 8:30am to 3:15pm, Monday to Friday, during term time only. You will also be paid for an additional 30 hours per year to attend team meetings, training and development activities outside of normal working hours. The actual salary for this role is £17,270.70 per annum, paid in 12 equal monthly instalments throughout the year. What are we looking for?

We are looking for an individual who is compassionate, engaging and committed to ensuring every child receives the care, support and guidance they need to thrive and achieve their best.

The successful applicant will have good literacy and numeracy skills, a and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team with minimal supervision. Experience of supporting pupils with SEND and delivering interventions would be desirable.

The Education Alliance Multi-Academy Trust was established in 2015 so that South Hunsley School and Sixth Form College could support the setting up of Hunsley Primary School, the East Riding’s first Free School. In February 2016, Malet Lambert School, an 11-16 school in Hull, joined the trust and the following year, Driffield School and Sixth Form joined as a sponsored academy. The Snaith School, an 11-16 school joined us in April 2019 and North Cave CE Primary School in November 2019. Howden Junior School joined us October 2022 followed by Wilberfoss CE Primary School in May 2023. Howden CE Infant School joined us in September 2023 followed by Naburn CE Primary School who joined on 1 October as a sponsored academy.

In addition to the ten schools, the trust also operates Yorkshire Wolds Teacher Training, the only Outstanding SCITT based in East Yorkshire, which is training a new generation of primary and secondary teachers in East Riding and Hull.
