Apprentice Teaching Assistant job summary

We are seeking to appoint an Apprentice Teaching Assistant to join our SEND Department. This post would be suitable for someone who is aspiring to work directly with children and young people to support their progress in the learning environment of the Academy. If appointed, you will be gaining hands on experience and will be following the CACHE Teaching Assistant Standard Level 3.

The successful candidate will:

  • Support our young people within their learning environment and personal development.
  • Clarify and adapt instructions to meet the pupils needs.
  • Ensure pupils are able to use equipment and materials provided.
  • Motivate and encourage pupils to achieve their full potential.
  • Assist in all areas; behavior, language, reading, spelling, handwriting, Maths etc.
  • Help pupils to access their work and complete to a high standard.
  • Meet physical needs, as required, whilst encouraging independence.
  • Establish supportive professional relationships with pupils.
  • Ensure acceptance and inclusion for all pupils.
  • Assist staff in supporting pupils with medical needs.
  • Awareness and understanding of pupils and their cultural needs.

Training:

Apprenticeship courses include time away from work for specialist training. You will study to gain professional knowledge and skills. You will work alongside and in partnership with our TA team and will be mentored by an experienced TA.

If appointed, you will be gaining hands on experience and will be following the CACHE Teaching Assistant Standard Level 3. By the end of the training, you will gain a Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship.

You will work and complete your training at University Academy Holbeach. The training will also include visits from your assessor within the work place.

What you'll learn:

  • Apply strategies to support and encourage the development of independent learners.
  • Adapt communication strategies for the audience and context.
  • Apply behaviour management strategies in line with organisational policy.
  • Adapt resources to support all learners.
  • Apply teaching strategies to deliver learning activities or interventions.
  • Build relationships with learners, teachers, other professionals and stakeholders.
  • Comply with legislation, guidance and procedures for Prevent, safeguarding and health and safety .
  • Support the well-being and mental health of learners.
  • Observe, record and report on learners in line with organisational procedures.
  • Apply methods of formative assessment.
  • Use up to date technology safely, to support learning.
  • Encourage safe use of technology by learners.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to support all learners (for example, scaffolding, open questioning).
  • Identify and respond to pastoral and academic behaviours in learners.
