Learning Support Assistant job summary
Smithdon High School are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join their team. The successful candidate would join a team of staff that are focussed on supporting the needs of students both inside and outside of the curriculum.

Hours: Up to 18.5 hours/week, 39 weeks/year (term time plus 1 week)

About the Role
To assist the SENDCo and SEND team in supporting the needs of students with special educational needs who require particular help to overcome barriers to learning, through in lesson support and/or by delivering targeted provisions and interventions 1-2-1 or in small groups. To advocate on behalf of named student(s), implementing the strategies and advice included in the child's Education, Health and Care Plan or Learning Profile and to contribute to termly and annual reviews.
Main Duties and Responsibilities, but not limited to:
Supporting the Pupil
· Assess the needs of pupil and use detailed knowledge and specialist skills to support pupils’ learning
· Contribute to the planning and preparation of learning activities
· Encourage and promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils
· Develop and implement Learning Profiles
Supporting the Teacher
· Organise and manage appropriate learning environment and relevant resources
· Work with the Teacher in lesson planning, evaluating and adjusting plans as appropriate to meet the needs of the pupil
· Monitor and evaluate pupils’ responses to learning activities through observation and planned recording of achievement against pre-determined learning objectives
· Provide detailed and regular feedback to the teacher on pupil achievement, progress and other matters, e.g. Learning Profiles
