Art and Design Technician job summary
Unleash your passion for the creative arts and help inspire the next generation of artists and designers at The Bulmershe School. We are looking to appoint a flexible and self-motivated part-time Art and Design Technician to join our highly successful Creative Arts Faculty.
In this varied role, you will provide vital technical and administrative support across our thriving Art and Design Technology departments. Our faculty is a place where creativity meets excellence, with our recent GCSE results sitting in the top 25% of the country. You will work alongside a friendly team of six teachers and two technicians who value collaboration, staff wellbeing and continuous professional development. Whether you have previous experience in a school setting or a strong background in the creative industries, you will benefit from our bespoke coaching culture and a warm, inclusive community.
Key Responsibilities
- Practical Lesson Preparation: Preparing and organising specialist materials, workshop tools and digital fabrication equipment, including 3D printers and laser cutters, to support practical lessons.
- Classroom and Workshop Support: Providing hands on support to teaching staff and students during workshop-based learning activities across a range of creative processes.
- Equipment and Tool Maintenance: Maintaining workshop tools, machinery and specialist equipment to a safe operational standard while managing stock and inventory schedules.
- Health, Safety and Compliance: Supporting the implementation of health and safety procedures across all areas, including maintaining COSHH documentation, CLEAPSS guidance and British Standard compliance.
The Ideal Candidate would be
- Skilled and Experienced: A practical professional with experience in a workshop, fabrication or educational environment, possessing strong organisational skills and an understanding of tool maintenance and safe working practices.
- Proactive and Relational: A resilient team player who can communicate clearly with multiple stakeholders, use their initiative to solve problems independently and demonstrate a strong commitment to student safeguarding.
