Art and Design Technician job summary

Unleash your practical skills and help inspire the next generation of designers and creators at The Bulmershe School. We are looking for an energetic and highly organised Art, Design and Technology Technician to join our exceptionally successful Creative Arts Faculty, where our recent 3D Design results place us among the top performing schools nationally. This fixed term role is far more than a traditional school technician role, offering you the chance to support professional, industry informed workshop environments and work alongside a collaborative team dedicated to creative excellence.

Key responsibilities include:

  • preparing and organising specialist materials, workshop tools and digital fabrication equipment, including 3D printers and laser cutters, to support our practical lessons.
  • providing hands on support to teaching staff and students during dynamic workshop based learning activities across a range of creative processes.
  • maintaining workshop tools, machinery and specialist equipment to a safe operational standard while managing stock and inventory schedules.
  • supporting the implementation of health and safety procedures across all areas, including maintaining COSHH documentation, CLEAPSS guidance and British Standard compliance.

The ideal candidate will be a practical professional with experience in a workshop, fabrication or educational environment, possessing strong organisational skills and an understanding of tool maintenance and safe working practices. They will also be a proactive and relational team player who can use their initiative to solve problems independently, bring energy to our team and show a strong commitment to student safeguarding.

If you are an organised problem solver who wants to work in an environment where the arts play a central role in the curriculum, we would love to hear from you. Please take the time to look through our vacancy pack to find out more details about our school and this position. We look forward to receiving your application.
