Lift Firth Park is looking for a passionate Art and Design Technology Technician to join our team. We're committed to making sure every child receives an excellent education, in every classroom, every day. Could you be the person who helps make that happen?
About the role
This is a key role in supporting teaching staff and students during practical lessons. You'll help prepare materials, maintain equipment, and make sure health and safety standards are met across specialist areas. Your work will help improve student learning and make sure every lesson runs smoothly.
Key responsibilities
- Technical Support: Assist teachers in preparing and delivering practical lessons and demonstrations to enhance student performance in Design Technology.
- Resource Management: Organise and maintain inventory of materials, tools, and resources, ensuring adequate supply for lessons and school projects, and manage orders and deliveries.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance, basic repairs, and troubleshooting on equipment, machinery, and tools, keeping accurate records of all maintenance activities.
- Health and Safety: Ensure compliance with health and safety standards, conduct risk assessments, provide safety guidance, and complete first aid training for student and staff safety.
- Assistance with Projects and Events: Support teachers and students in project planning and delivery, assist with event setups and dismantling, and collaborate on cross-curricular initiatives.
- First Aid: Have or be willing to complete Emergency First Aid training.
We are looking for someone who has
- GCSE Maths and English at Grade C / 4+ (or equivalent).
- Formal qualification in Art, Design Technology, or a closely related technical discipline.
- Practical experience working within an Art or Design Technology context (educational or industry).
- Hands-on experience operating power tools and working confidently with wood, metal, and plastics.
- High accuracy and thoroughness in equipment maintenance, material handling, and enforcing safety protocols.
- Ability to clearly explain technical advice, safety guidelines, and practical instructions to both staff and students.
- Strong initiative to anticipate student/staff needs, take ownership of tasks, and address potential issues before they escalate.
- First Aid is desirable but not essential.
- UK right to work, as this role is not eligible for sponsorship.
