The Astley Cooper School is looking for an enthusiastic and committed Caretaker to join our established site team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who takes pride in their work and enjoys being part of a team that plays an important role in the smooth running of the school. You will help ensure that our buildings, grounds and facilities are safe, secure, clean and welcoming for our students, staff and visitors.

We are looking for someone who is hands-on, proactive and dependable, with a positive approach and a willingness to get involved. You will be someone who takes pride in maintaining high standards and who understands the important contribution a school site team makes to the wider school community.

The successful candidate will

  • Have a practical, hands-on approach and take pride in maintaining high standards.
  • Be reliable, organised and able to work independently.
  • Have good practical and problem-solving skills.
  • Be proactive and able to identify and respond to maintenance and site issues.
  • Have a positive and flexible approach to their work.
  • Be confident working as part of a busy school site team.
  • Have good communication skills and be able to build positive relationships with staff, students, contractors and visitors.
  • Understand the importance of health and safety and maintaining a safe environment.
  • Be willing to support the wider needs of the school and contribute positively to our community.

Previous experience in a caretaking, maintenance, facilities or similar role would be advantageous. However, we are also interested in candidates who have strong practical skills, a positive attitude and a genuine desire to make a difference within a school environment.

The Astley Cooper School is an 11-18, co-educational, secondary school on the outskirts of Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire.
