What skills and experience we're looking for

We are currently seeking to recruit for an Assistant Caretaker/Minibus Driver to deliver a high quality customer service to all teaching and related support operations on the Academy site. Working both as an individual and as part of a team, you will carry out a range of tasks to facilitate an ideal teaching and learning environment for our staff and students.

In the role of our Minibus Driver, you will provide safe and reliable transport on our home to school minibus runs as required. Applicants for this post must hold a full pre-1997 driving licence with B/BE/C1/C1E/D1/D1E driving entitlements or if post-1997, have successfully passed additional tests to cover entitlements B/BE/C1/C1E/D1/D1E. Applicants must also be prepared to undertake and successfully pass the minibus driving assessments prior to employment.

We ask that applicants be enthusiastic and possess a calm, organised and approachable character which is seen as an essential part of the role. You must have a clear commitment to working with young people and be able to set clear guidelines for them. The post offers a fulfilling opportunity to work responsibly with young people in the Academy.

Attleborough as a town is poised for major expansion and the Academy is the chosen secondary to have facilities developed as part of the Masterplan. As part of this, in conjunction with Breckland District Council, we have just announced a major development of our Sports Hall area to create a new Leisure Centre which also will include a 3G pitch on our playing fields

The SET are committed to bringing like-minded schools together to work in partnership to develop a world class education. This merger promises to bring multiple benefits in terms of teaching and learning and new opportunities for students and staff. Just before Easter 2023, we were pleased to announce that we have achieved the World Class School Quality Mark which is a tribute to all in our community.

The qualifications and previous experience required for an Assistant Caretaker and Minibus Driver:

Essential

  • Experienced driver with good local knowledge
  • Cat D1 licence holder
  • Good physical fitness
  • Practical approach and competent in general maintenance duties
  • Within easy travelling distance in all circumstances
  • Ability to work and make decisions reliably and without close supervision
  • Enthusiastic / ‘Can Do’ attitude

Desirable

  • Advanced driving certificate
  • Previous work in a ‘trade’
