As Assistant Cook at St Peter's Primary School, you'll play a key role in preparing and serving nutritious meals, maintaining high food hygiene standards and creating a positive dining environment where every pupil feels welcome.
About the Role
In this role, you will assist in preparing and servin gnutritious meals while maintaining excellent food hygiene and safety standards. You will support the smooth running of the kitchen, provide a welcoming service to pupils and staff, and help create a positive dining experience that encourages healthy eating habits.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys working as part of a team, takes pride in delivering excellent customer service and is passionate about providing high quality school meals in a friendly and supportive environment.
Key aspects of the role include:
- Assist in the day to day running and management of the school kitchen, liaising with the Cook and wider team to ensure our pupils are served delicious healthy meals.
- Ensure hygiene and health and safety standards are met at all times.
- Help to plan and prepare well-balanced, nutritious meals for pupils and staff according to established menu guidelines.
- Assisting with the cleaning of the kitchen and kitchen equipment.
- Any other duties that will help the smooth operation of the kitchen from the start to the end of the day.
We're Looking For Someone Who:
- Has the relevant qualifications required for the role and/or experience of catering within a school or commercial organisation.
- Has sound knowledge of HACCP and COSHH.
- Has current knowledge of allergens and how to manage the preparation of meals ensuring that current guidelines are adhered to.
- Has proven experience of working with fresh food.
- Has the right qualifties to work in a calm manner within a busy, stressful environment.
- Values a supportive work environment.
- Has a good sense of humour and is not afraid of hard work!!

We are a two form entry infant and primary school located in South Croydon with 420 pupils ranging in age from 4 to 11. Our school has a close knit family feel with local community ties.
