KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
All staff at Ridgewood School need to act together as a cohesive team, for this reason all staff have common sections to their job descriptions. Obviously, each person will implement these general requirements with relevance to their own area of responsibility.
General responsibilities
Overall responsibility for A level English Language, English Literature and GCSE English resits.
2. To implement and support the aims of the school.
3. To support the implementation of the school improvement plan.
4. To work towards high standards in teaching and learning.
5. To actively maintain order and discipline.
6. To support the implementation of school policies.
7. To maintain practices which ensure the highest standard of pastoral care.
8. To attend meetings as and when required.
9. To undertake duties of a form teacher.
10. To liaise with parents where appropriate.
11. To actively seek opportunities for personal development.
12. To undertake such activities as can be reasonably expected by the headteacher.
Subject teacher responsibilities
1. To support all agreed initiatives by the faculty and school.
2. To encourage students to achieve the highest standards of work possible.
3. To make sure that all students have an equal opportunity to succeed.
4. To ensure that the learning environment is neat and well organised.
5. To ensure that high quality resources are used within the classroom.
6. To ensure that a variety of teaching methods and styles are used.
7. To undertake accurate and relevant assessment of students.
8. To work with the faculty to produce up-to-date and relevant schemes of work.
9. To support initiatives developed by the pastoral team.
Specific Responsibilities as Assistant Curriculum Leader – KS5 English1. To work closely with the Curriculum Leader and Deputy Curriculum Leader.
2. To assist the Curriculum Leader and Deputy Curriculum Leader in meeting faculty targets.
3. To take prime responsibility for designated aspects of faculty administration.
4. To substitute for the Deputy Curriculum Leader when necessary.
5. To assist in the monitoring and evaluation of student progress and standards of work in the faculty in KS5.
6. To contribute to establishing strategies for maintaining effective student discipline within the faculty in KS5, dealing with referrals in accordance with school policy.
7. To assist the Curriculum Leader and Deputy Curriculum Leader in the production of faculty self-evaluation and the faculty development plan.
8. To ensure that order and discipline are of a high standard within the faculty.
9. To encourage the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of young people in the faculty.
To assist the Curriculum Leader in the effective leadership and management of Key Stage 5 including:
assisting the Curriculum Leader in monitoring and evaluating the standards of teaching and learning in the subject area;
assisting the Curriculum Leader in the creation, consistent implementation and improvement of schemes of work which encapsulate key school teaching and learning strategies;
assisting with the production of short, medium and long-term plans for the development and resourcing of the subject;
overseeing the development and quality assurance of courses;
co-ordinating (where appropriate) internal assessments and end of year exams;
liaising with pastoral teams;
analysing and reporting data for key stage 5 within the faculty;
supporting all teachers within the faculty;
assisting the Curriculum Leader and Deputy Curriculum Leader to ensure that members of the faculty follow procedures for feedback, assessment and homework within the Key Stage;
work with KS5 Leaders in other Core Faculties and the KS5 Progress Leader to ensure that students receive excellent quality provision in KS5
