Assistant Family Worker job summary
Woodlands is an Outstanding (Ofsted 2024) secondary special school. The school is committed to the provision of high quality education for young people aged between 11- 18 with severe, profound and complex learning needs.
The Assistant Family Worker will operate as part of Pastoral/Family Work Team and will provide a crucial link between the school and the family by:
- Supporting the Family Workers by keeping accurate records of contact with families, including monitoring attendance, making phone calls and completing appropriate paperwork .
- Liaising with the school nurses, school dental services and visiting medical professionals in relation to routine medical screenings and appointments and communicating this to parents and staff.
- Supporting families to complete documents.
- Liaising with the Family Workers to act as an advocate to enable families to access services.
- Assisting with the organisation of parent training and workshops.
- Attending, as required, Annual Reviews, parent meetings, staff meetings and professionals meetings to build knowledge and understanding of the needs of individual pupils and their families.
- Carrying out welfare visits alongside a colleague as part of our duty to safeguard young people.
- Promoting and safeguarding the welfare of young people including recording information accurately and in a timely fashion on our school system, CPOMs.
