This is a fantastic opportunity for you to contribute towards building a great future for the Science Faculty at Joseph Leckie Academy, in a dedicated and committed department. You will play a vital role in raising standards in science, particularly at Key Stage 4, and support the development of teachers, consistent curriculum delivery and promote excellence across the Faculty.
We are looking for an inspirational teacher to develop and support our Key Stage 4 Science curriculum, as well as the wider Faculty. We welcome applications from outstanding teachers with the experience to assist in leading our science team. We are passionate about promoting STEM subjects and, as such, offer AQA Trilogy Combined Science and AQA Separate Science, Pearson BTEC Level 3 Applied Science and all three A-Level disciplines, with the hope to begin offering AAQs in 2026.
The Science Faculty is comprised of a large team of experienced teachers and middle leaders, including a Head of Faculty, Key Stage Leaders, Lead Practitioner, teaching assistants and technicians, all who offer a wealth of support and professional advice to staff at all levels. There are 13 specialist laboratories for practical lessons, as well as access to computer rooms for vocational coursework.
The successful candidate will:
- have a proven record of raising achievement in science, particularly within KS4, with consistent impact on teaching, learning and progress and attainment in science.
- have experience of teaching all three disciplines (biology, chemistry and physics) to at least GCSE, either Combined and/or Single Science.
- have experience in or an ability to teach at Post-16, including A-Level Biology, Chemistry or Physics and/or BTEC Applied Science or other vocational courses (highly desirable).
- be a committed team player with a shared focus on teaching, learning, curriculum and staff development.
- be a successful, highly organised leader with at least four years’ experience in teaching and school leadership.
- have experience of coaching/mentoring, observing and giving feedback to staff and training staff in teaching and learning.
- be passionate about science and promote a love of learning.
- be positive, enthusiastic, resilient and a team player.
