What skills and experience we're looking for
We are looking for a well-qualified and enthusiastic teacher to join our science team on a full-time basis to start in September 2023. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to support the Head of Department in areas such as curriculum, teaching and learning, and assessment, amongst many others. The role is ideal for any teacher that is at the stage where they are looking to take on more responsibility, develop their own leadership skills and aspire for further promotion. We are open to applicants who may be looking for part time work as well as applicants looking for a full-time position.
The successful candidate will have excellent subject knowledge, strong classroom management skills and the ability to inspire our pupils with outstanding and engaging teaching. Our students are a delight to teach, and we foster an atmosphere of mutual trust and respect.
The successful applicant will be joining an already highly successful department with both combined science and the separate sciences amongst our highest attaining subjects. In 2022, combined science achieved outstanding results. In combined sciences, pupils achieved of 84%/70% at Grade 4+, 63%/54% at Grade 5+, and 19/12% at Grade 7+. Our separate sciences achieved 100% Grade 5+ across all three sciences, and an average of 71% at Grade 7+ across all three sciences. This success was built on a department truly committed to continual improvement in all areas, especially the curriculum and teaching and learning, with the focus on all improvements impacting pupil outcomes.
The Department currently follow the AQA exam board course at GCSE level. Teaching within the department benefits from a strong team of specialist teachers who have all contributed to the department's rich curriculum.
