What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for a passionate and committed Science teacher or experienced Science leader to join our school as Assistant Head of Department. You will work alongside the Curriculum Leader to ensure that our students have the highest quality access to ambitious, engaging, and inclusive Science learning. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping curriculum delivery, driving standards, and supporting the development of both staff and students within a thriving department.

Skills and Experience

The successful candidate will:

  • Be an excellent classroom practitioner with a strong track record of securing high outcomes in Science
  • Have a secure subject knowledge across Science with a specialism in Chemistry or Physics.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to delivering high-quality teaching and evidence-informed practice
  • Have experience of contributing to curriculum planning and development
  • Be able to support, coach and develop colleagues to improve teaching and learning
  • Have experience of using assessment effectively to inform teaching and raise achievement
  • Be highly organised, proactive, and able to manage competing priorities
  • Be committed to inclusive practice and ensuring all students, including those with SEND, achieve well
  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team
  • Be aligned with the school’s values and vision, with a clear commitment to improving outcomes for girls
