Start Date: To be agreed

We are seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated and forward-thinking Assistant Head of Year 7 (non-teach) to join our dynamic Pastoral Team.

This pivotal role has a distinct focus on Year 7 and the transition from primary to secondary education and the support we offer pupils to embrace ‘The Cams Hill Way’.

The Assistant Head of Year 7 will remain with Year 7 each year to ensure that every pupil joining Cams Hill School feels supported during their first year, valued and empowered to achieve their full potential in and outside the classroom.

You will play a leading role in planning and delivering the Year 7 transition and induction programme, liaising with primary schools, coordinating induction activities and ensuring that key information about pupils is effectively shared with staff. You will work sensitively and proactively to ensure that pupils who are vulnerable and anxious about transition or require additional support are identified early and supported effectively.

Working closely with primary schools, parents, carers, external agencies and other stakeholders you will ensure that systems, support structures and pastoral care are tailored to meet the diverse needs of each new cohort including those with additional learning, social, emotional and wellbeing needs.

You will also manage behaviour in line with our high expectations, hold and record meetings and analyse trends with data. A significant element of the role will focus on attendance and removing barriers to learning.

We are looking for someone who can thrive both as part of a dedicated pastoral and tutor team and when working independently.

If you are passionate about motivating, challenging and supporting young people, this is an exciting opportunity to join a high-performing team committed to securing the best life chances for all pupils.

A good standard of literacy.

A proactive, “can-do” approach and the ability to work constructively as part of a team.
