We are looking for an Assistant Head of Year to support the Head of Year in overseeing the general welfare, progress, behaviour and overall pastoral needs of students in a specified year group and to address pastoral needs of students who require assistance in overcoming barriers to learning in order to achieve their full potential.

Key responsibilities:

Reporting to SLT link, this post holder will be accountable for:

  • To lead on co-ordinating appropriate interventions for students in your year group whose attendance, behaviour or achievement is a concern.
  • To work closely with KS3 (STC) to support the larger year groups.
  • To manage specific areas of pastoral support such an uniform, students habits, lates, etc.
  • To manage and implement all required sanctions.
  • To advise first aid staff on sending sick students home, where applicable.

Pay range:

SCP 27 - 30 £33,615.54 - £35,864.49 (FTE: £38,220.00 - £40,777.00)

37 hours per week, 39 weeks per year

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs including Maths and English (grade 4-9) or equivalent
  • Understanding of ‘Early Help’ strategy, policies and protocols
  • Experience of developing effective strategies to overcome barriers to learning
  • Effective behaviour management skills
