Assistant Head Teacher (EYFS Lead) job summary
Grade: LPS L6-10
Hours/ Contract type: Full Time, Permanent
Reporting to: Head Teacher and Deputy Head
Responsible for: Early Years/Pre-School Staff
We are looking for an outstanding Assistant Head Teacher who will have an impact on the outcomes for our children in Pre-School/School through securing outstanding teaching across the phase. We currently have 3 Pre-School rooms – Foxes and Squirrels on our Birchfield Site and the newly opened Badgers room on a neighbouring site. We also have 2 Reception classes in our ‘main’ school.
The successful candidate will support the Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher in:
Communicating the school’s vision compellingly and supporting the Headteacher’s strategic leadership
The day-to-day management of the school with particular reference to the EYFS
Formulating the aims and objectives of the school
Establishing policies for achieving these aims and objectives
Be the EYFS Leader for Birchfield Pre-School (Foxes, Squirrels and Badgers) and Reception (2 Classes)
Managing Pre-School/Reception team staff and resources
Monitoring progress towards the achievement of the school’s aims and objectives
Develop and review regularly the vision, aims and purpose for EYFS
Keeping up to date with new initiatives, intervention and EY Practise
Being an active member of the School Leadership Team and make a significant contribution to the strategic development and direction of the Pre-School/School.
Taking the lead to develop and inspire an engaging EYFS curriculum
Managing the EYFS budget
Having the vision and drive to become a Deputy Head/Head Teacher in the future
The Assistant Headteacher will also have a timetabled teaching commitment of 0.5 teaching commitment in a Reception class (to include PPA).
The Assistant Headteacher will:
Uphold public trust in school leadership and maintain high standards of ethics, behaviour and professional conduct
Build positive and respectful relationships across the school community
Serve in the best interests of the school’s pupils
