St Theresa's is a very large Catholic primary school situated in East Leeds. It is ideally located for the M1 link road and the main A64 Ring Road. Barwick Road is the road leading to Scholes and Barwick-in-Elmet. The school serves a very mixed residential catchment area (Leeds 14 and Leeds 15) and has approx. 85% Catholic pupils. There are approximately 420 pupils in the main school and these are spread over 14 classes from F2 to Y6. There is also a very large nursery attached to the school and the equivalent of 104 children are educated here every day. The staff team has over 90 members. Despite the size and scale of the staff there is a good team spirit and relationships are very good.
We moved into a brand new school building on Monday, 2 September 2019 so this is a very exciting time to be joining our school. There are extensive grounds at St Theresa’s and we make full use of them both for sport but also for outdoor learning. We are committed to the creative curriculum and we are looking for an excellent, motivated and hard-working and inspirational leader to join us. Our children are delightful; they have a really positive growth mindset and they display excellent behaviour for learning and they love school.
The school has an excellent reputation and has been re-awarded the Inclusion Chartermark, the National and Advanced Healthy Schools’ Awards and the Gold ActiveMark. The school is very committed to ongoing, realistic and career enhancing Continuing Professional Development (CPD). The school has a very good reputation for sport of all kinds and has been the Sportshall Athletics Champions of Leeds as well as city-wide champions in other sports. We have national and county champions for X-Country and offer a range of football and netball clubs.
The school was last inspected by OFSTED in June 2022 and the school was judged to have remained ‘good’ in all areas. The Section 48 Inspection in March 2023 described the school as an outstanding Catholic school for Catholic Life and Mission and we were graded 'good' overall under the new CSI Framework. The school has also appeared in the Sunday Times Top 500 schools lists in 2018 and 2022.
There is a lot of information about the school on the website: www.st-theresas.leeds.sch.uk including information about the school’s Mission/Vision Statement and Aims. You should address these statements in your personal statement in your application form.
