Assistant Headteacher and SENDCO job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a fixed term Assistant Headteacher and SENDCo at Horton Park Primary School.
Horton Park Primary School, part of the highly regarded Exceed Academies Trust, is seeking to appoint an ambitious, inspirational and committed Assistant Headteacher & SENDCO to join our Senior Leadership Team.
This is an exciting opportunity for an outstanding teacher and experienced middle leader who is ready to take the next step in their leadership journey and make a meaningful impact in a school focused on rapid improvement and excellence for all.
The successful candidate will lead on inclusive practice, formulate aims and objectives of the school, drive whole school SEND strategy and provide strategic leadership alongside the Headteacher. The role will include the development, implementation and monitoring of individual support and learning plans tailored to the needs of each pupil.
The Assistant Head / SENDCO will lead by example and model best practice regarding professional conduct, workload and personal development, and will be a role model for all in our community.

The successful candidate will: Be able to analyse data effectively, particularly for vulnerable groups, and hold others to account to raise achievement and close gaps
- Be responsible for supporting and educating children with special educational needs, ensuring they achieve their full potential
- Be able to inspire, motivate and engage children and staff
- Have a strong commitment to ensuring excellent pupil progress
- Have a relentless commitment to raising standards and improving outcomes
- Develop and implement individualised education plans (IEPs) and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) for students with special educational needs
- Create a positive, safe and aspirational learning environment for all
- Stay up-to-date with the latest SEN teaching strategies and educational research
