Assistant Headteacher job summary

Assistant Headteacher Required for Pupil Referral Unit.

As Assistant Headteacher for Quality of Education and Outcomes, you will play a key role in driving high-quality provision and securing strong outcomes for all pupils, particularly those with complex needs and disrupted educational experiences.

You will lead the development of a flexible, ambitious curriculum and ensure consistently strong teaching through a clear, proportionate approach to quality assurance. You will embed effective, trauma-informed practice and support staff to deliver engaging, inclusive learning.

You will oversee assessment and data systems, ensuring they are meaningful and used intelligently to inform teaching, intervention and strategic decision-making. A core focus will be on tracking progress, improving outcomes and ensuring successful reintegration and post-16 pathways.

As part of the senior leadership team, you will contribute to whole-school improvement, lead staff development and build a culture of high expectations, consistency and inclusion.
