Assistant Headteacher - Curriculum and Assessment job summary

Due to the creation of additional strategic leadership posts, an exciting opportunity has arisen at our school. We are looking for a talented, engaging and ambitious leader with a passion for making a difference, to work as part of our existing Senior Leadership Team. The successful candidate will make a positive impact on the lives and futures of the students in our school.

The successful applicant will play a significant role in the future development of The Telford Langley School and will, alongside the Senior Leadership Team, have responsibility for the strategic leadership of the curriculum and development of rigorous assessment processes. Duties include working with curriculum leaders to ensure effective assessment in lessons and over time to achieve the best possible attainment for pupils across all key stages.

You will need to be an excellent teacher, with a proven track record of exceptional performance, and be capable of providing motivational leadership. You will be resourceful, enthusiastic, and committed to the highest standards of achievement for all.

We seek a leader who is passionate about personal development, academic excellence, collaboration and delivering high quality support for every student.


The successful applicant will:

  • Be an active and supportive member of the Strategic Leadership Team (SLT) and contribute to the Strategic Leadership of the schools in the Trust as part of our SLT
  • Ensure the that our aims, ethos and values are put into practice and we make significant progress across the school
  • Shadow and support the work of the Deputy Headteacher and other senior leaders
  • Model operational and strategic excellence

Work in collaboration with the Deputy Headteacher Progress to:

  • Lead, develop and implement all assessment and intervention procedures to maximise student achievement and progress at all levels.
  • To provide a model of high-quality curriculum planning for curriculum leaders so that real coherency is developed to ensure the whole school curriculum offer is ambitious, inclusive and inspiring.
  • To continuously review curriculum provision, identifying and making improvements as appropriate.
  • To analyse the impact of interventions across the school and make recommendations.
  • Provide CPD for staff, especially related to AfL.
  • Implement an effective assessment framework using by using the latest research in best practice.
  • Lead by example in own teaching practice and positively encourage and support all member of staff.
