Assistant Headteacher - Personal Development and Transitions job summary
Due to the creation of additional strategic leadership posts, an exciting opportunity has arisen at our school. We are looking for a talented, engaging and ambitious leader with a passion for making a difference, to work as part of our existing Senior Leadership Team. The successful candidate will make a positive impact on the lives and futures of the students in our school.
We need an inspirational and strategic leader who can bring creativity and innovation to the current provision we offer our students. The successful candidate will have specific responsibility for the advancement and management of the personal development of students including PSHE, citizenship, work-related education and careers, and play a pivotal role in ensuring effective transitions at all key stages.
The successful candidate will be highly visible, collaborative and inspirational, committed to raising standards both in their areas of responsibility and across the school.
You will need to be an excellent teacher, with a proven track record of exceptional performance, and be capable of providing motivational leadership. You will be resourceful, enthusiastic, and committed to the highest standards of achievement for all.
We seek a leader who is passionate about personal development, academic excellence, collaboration and delivering high quality support for every student.
The successful applicant will:
- Be an active and supportive member of the Strategic Leadership Team (SLT) and contribute to the Strategic Leadership of the schools in the Trust as part of our SLT
- Ensure that our aims, ethos and values are put into practice and we make significant progress across the school
- Shadow and support the work of the Deputy Headteacher and other senior leaders
- Model operational and strategic excellence
They will collaborate with the Deputy Headteacher Relationships to:
- To provide strategic and operational leadership for the School’s personal development and transition programmes.
- To ensure that the range of extracurricular opportunities is excellent and that uptake by students is exceptional in order for students to develop their talents and interests.
- To promote British values and the CAT values, engaging students with different perspectives and diversity to create global citizens.
- Contribute to the effective transfer of pupil information from KS2 to 3 and KS4 to KS5 and, where appropriate, implement support strategies for pupils at risk of disaffection and exclusion.
- Work with a range of external support agencies to support the schools strategic direction and to meet the diverse needs of pupils.
- To oversee work-related learning including the delivery of a careers fair, collaborative work with local FE and employers and a work-experience programme.
- Attend pastoral meetings in order to share and develop best practice.
- To lead assemblies and support various occasions/functions.
