Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion (SENCo) job summary

‘Creating foundations for bright futures’ is our motto, where we foster a nurturing environment and every child is encouraged to find their own voice and grow as a person, while developing a lifelong love for learning. For us, a bright future is not just what children go on to achieve academically, but it’s one where they have high aspirations for themselves, build strong relationships and are happy and confident to follow their own paths. Our school was inspected by Ofsted in March 2022 and it continues to be a ‘good’ school.

See below Job purpose:

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of our school's provision for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including those with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, 'Vulnerable Learners,' and Pupil Premium.

  • Provide professional guidance to ensure high-quality teaching, effective resource utilization, and improved standards of achievement for SEND pupils.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance understanding of the school curriculum's impact on SEND policy, fostering improved teaching and learning school-wide.

  • Contribute to promoting and overseeing high standards of teaching, learning, and achievement through inclusive practices for SEND pupils.

  • Serve as the school’s Designated Teacher for Looked After (LAC) and Previously Looked After Children (PLAC), actively promoting the educational achievement of these pupils.

  • Additionally, play a key role in the School's Designated Safeguarding Team.
