What skills and experience we're looking for

Are you an outstanding and ambitious teacher looking to join a leadership team? We have an exciting and rare opportunity for someone with the passion to make a difference to the lives of our children, and help secure excellent outcomes for all.

Our two-form entry primary school is looking for a new Assistant Headteacher, who can champion inclusive practice and prioritise our vulnerable pupils through their work as SENDCO and Deputy DSL.

Why choose Bishop Chavasse?

  • You will be able to play a key role in developing our school with the potential to progress;
  • You will join a school and Trust team that focuses on supporting teachers teaching and children learning;
  • You will benefit from a school where there is a consistent whole school behaviour system implemented by all;
  • We prioritise weekly coaching and professional development to grow all our staff;
  • You will receive dedicated leadership planning time to drive forward whole school work; and
  • You will be part of a supportive values- and vision-led Church of England school seeking to ensure all fulfil their potential.

The right candidate will be aligned to our vision and values of achieving ‘fulfilling our potential, achieving excellence together’ and be fully committed to delivering it through our values of wisdom, compassion and honesty. They will need to have an unfaltering belief in the capacity of all children to achieve through great teaching and a culture of high expectations. They will recognise the innate dignity and uniqueness of each child’s capacity to excel.

If you share our passion for providing excellence in education, inspiring young people and helping them reach their full potential, we would love to hear from you. We welcome informal, pre-application conversations and visits to see our school.

Tenax Schools Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people and all applicants are expected to share this commitment. All appointments are subject to pre-employment checks, including satisfactory references and an Enhanced DBS check. What the school offers its staff

Bishop Chavasse Church of England Primary School is a two form entry school and a member of the Tenax Schools Trust. We opened in September 2017 and are located in South Tonbridge (postcode area TN11).

Our school provides high quality education for Year R to Year 6 - we reached capacity in September 2023.

Following our full, section 5 Ofsted inspection on 5th and 6th July 2022 we are very pleased that Bishop Chavasse Primary School has been judged as a 'Good' school, providing 'Outstanding' provision for our Early Years children. Our children’s aspirational journey through the school was noted with ‘high expectations reflected in all phases of the school’.

Pupils moved into our brand new, state of the art school building in April 2019. We have:

  • Spacious classrooms along two easy to navigate corridors – one for EYFS and Key Stage 1, and one for Key Stage 2;
  • Outdoor areas including a designated play and sports areas for EYFS, KS1 and KS2: sports field, trim trails, climbing equipment, outdoor classroom, prayer gardens and a new Forest School area;
  • A bright, spacious and well stocked library;
  • Quiet learning spaces outside the classrooms for personalised teaching;
  • A dedicated room for music lessons;
  • A room for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths (STEAM);
  • A fully equipped sensory room;

All pupils, regardless of background, are offered a full and enriching curriculum from the start which enables them to master the knowledge and skills they need to achieve their full educational and personal potential. It is our passion to develop the whole child in a safe, inclusive, Christian environment.

Our Church of England primary school is at the heart of our local community, where staff, parents and children are flourishing through working, learning and playing together. As a Church of England school, Bishop Chavasse is linked with two local churches: St Stephen’s Church and St Peter and St Paul’s and we work closely with the Rochester Diocesan Board of Education to ensure our Christian ethos is theologically rooted and permeates every avenue of our school community, teaching and learning.

Tenax Schools Trust is a dynamic and enterprising organisation which is underpinned by a strong Christian character and ethos and is a formidable local driver of school improvement. Our Trust delivers high standards through a strong belief in an approach that insists that all children and young people can excel irrespective of their starting points. The Trust leads the Kent Teaching School Hub which delivers the Early Career Framework, as well as the NPQ suite of qualifications. Teach Kent and Sussex is our Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ initial teacher training centre, operating from Bennett Memorial Diocesan School. This wider work by the Trust provides a wealth of potential CPD opportunities.
