An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Assistant Headteacher of Inclusion and learning support at Appleton Academy.
The successful candidate will, under the direction of the Headteacher, provide strategic leadership across the Academy, contributing to the development and delivery of the school’s aims and objectives while ensuring high-quality, inclusive educational provision. They will lead by example, modelling best practice in professional conduct, workload and personal development, and acting as a role model for the whole school community. As Assistant Headteacher of SENDCO, they will take the strategic lead for SEND, ensuring full implementation of the SEN Code of Practice and developing and communicating a clear, ambitious vision for inclusive education. The role includes oversight of learning support across the Academy, designing and embedding effective intervention programmes within mainstream lessons and in the specialist ‘Hub’, ensuring that all learners are challenged to achieve and exceed their potential. In addition, the postholder will manage staff and resources effectively, establish and implement policies aligned to the school’s priorities, and monitor progress rigorously to secure the very best outcomes for all learners.
The successful candidate will:
- Provide strategic leadership for inclusion and SEND, ensuring all learners are supported and challenged to achieve their full potential
- Promote and embed a clear vision of inclusive education, underpinned by strong knowledge of statutory frameworks and current best practice
- Oversee and quality assure SEND provision, including EHCPs and IEPs, ensuring effective, personalised support and strong pupil progress
- Use data and curriculum-led planning to drive improvement, ensuring effective use of resources and targeted interventions
- Lead, develop and support staff, staying informed on the latest SEND strategies and research to deliver high-quality learning support
