At IFtL, we are never alone - we know we are stronger together, one united family striving for excellence in everything we do.
We are seeking an ambitious, innovative, and highly skilled Assistant Headteacher to join our leadership team. This is a non-class-based senior leadership role, designed to drive whole-school improvement and play a pivotal role in shaping the school’s next chapter following our recent Ofsted inspection. The successful candidate will start on Monday 13th April 2026, giving them the opportunity to make an immediate impact in the summer term.
Curriculum & Teaching
As Assistant Headteacher, you will lead on curriculum and teaching across the school, providing expert guidance and support to staff while modelling high-quality practice in key year groups, particularly Upper Key Stage 2. While this is a non-class-based role, there are teaching expectations linked to the role to ensure standards are driven through direct impact in the classroom.
You will:
Lead the development and implementation of an effective, broad, and balanced curriculum.
Support teachers to embed high-quality pedagogy that maximises pupil engagement and progress.
Deliver targeted teaching in Upper KS2 to model best practice and drive outcomes.
Provide coaching, mentoring, and professional development to staff to strengthen curriculum delivery and classroom practice.
Achievement (Assessment)
You will also take a strategic lead on achievement and assessment, ensuring robust systems to track pupil progress and attainment.
Key responsibilities include:
Overseeing the school’s assessment framework and statutory reporting requirements.
Analysing pupil data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
Working with subject leaders and teachers to implement evidence-based strategies to raise standards, including for disadvantaged pupils and those with SEND.
Supporting the school’s leadership team in whole-school improvement planning and monitoring impact.
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
Has proven leadership experience in a primary or junior school setting, with a strong record of whole-school improvement.
Demonstrates expertise in curriculum, teaching, and assessment, with a data-informed approach to raising attainment.
Is an outstanding communicator and collaborator, able to inspire and motivate staff and pupils alike.
Is committed to inclusive education and ensuring every child achieves their potential.
Is ready to take a hands-on role in shaping the school’s next stage of development.
Tours of the school are highly recommended, and informal conversations with the Headteacher are available for interested candidates.
Key Dates:
Closing date: Monday 17th February 2026
Interviews: Tuesday 24th February 2026
Start date: Monday 13th April 2026
We offer:
As part of the Inspiring Futures through Learning, successful candidates will have full access to enhanced family leave, generous Pension (LGPS) employer contribution, and access to a staff benefits package, including a bespoke CPD, wellbeing support (Health Assured) discount on gym membership, cinema tickets, cycle to work scheme and much more.
