What skills and experience we're looking for

Trinity School, part of the Newbury Academy Trust, is seeking to appoint an Assistant Headteacher – Pastoral Development to join our Senior Leadership Team. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious colleague to play a key role in shaping personal development, behaviour, attendance, inclusion and student well being across our school.

The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership for:

  • PSHE and Personal Development (Years 7–13), including RSHE and enrichment
  • Careers Education, including oversight of the Careers Team and Gatsby Benchmarks
  • Alternative Provision and pathways, including vocational routes and external providers
  • Support for behaviour, attendance and inclusion systems
  • Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead

This role combines strategic leadership with direct pastoral impact, working closely with students, staff, families and external partners.

The successful candidate will be:

  • An experienced and highly effective teacher with a strong pastoral ethos
  • An ambitious leader committed to improving outcomes for all students
  • Confident in leading whole‑school initiatives and managing teams
  • Passionate about personal development, inclusion and student welfare
  • Values‑driven, reflective and aligned with Trinity’s ethos and culture

This post would suit a current Assistant Headteacher or an experienced middle or senior leader ready to take the next step in their leadership career.

Trinity School in Newbury, West Berkshire, is the lead school in the Newbury Academy Trust; Fir Tree Primary School and Speenhamland Primary School are part of our Trust.
