About the Role

As an Assistant Headteacher, you will play a key role in shaping school improvement, leading strategic priorities and supporting the development of staff and pupils. You will work closely with the Headteacher and wider leadership team to ensure high standards of teaching, learning, behaviour and personal development are embedded across the school.

Depending on the needs of the school and the strengths of the successful candidate, the role may include responsibility for [specific area e.g. Teaching & Learning, Behaviour, Inclusion, Personal Development, Curriculum, Sixth Form, Attendance or Safeguarding].

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Strategic Direction: Provide direct operational and strategic leadership across Years 3 to 6 (Years 3-5 specifically designated for core phase leadership, extending up to Year 6 for school-wide systems.
  • Strategic Assessment: Oversee the whole-school assessment cycle, manage data drop deadlines, and analyse school-wide trends.
  • Curriculum Fidelity & Development: Drive the continuous strategic development of the whole-school curriculum, securing absolute fidelity to its design and ensuring systematic, consistent implementation across all key stages and year groups.

We're Looking For Someone Who:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) through any route
  • Substantial, proven teaching or leadership experience within Key Stage 2 (Years 3-6).
  • Experience in coordinating targeted academic interventions to close progress gaps across KS2.
